In close collaboration with stakeholders, experts, healthcare professionals, and people with lived experience, we have developed comprehensive concepts to promote perinatal mental health in our recent workshops. These concepts cover key areas such as coordination, early detection, mobile services, and awareness-raising.

The roundtable approach on perinatal mental health aims to ensure a coordinated and seamless care for affected families. The roundtable is designed to bring together various actors, such as professionals (e.g., gynecologists, midwives, pediatricians), psychosocial counseling services, public institutions, and people with lived experience. The process started with the recruitment of relevant participants, where expertise and experience in the field of perinatal mental health are decisive criteria.

To better understand the needs and expectations of potential participants, focus groups or interviews are conducted. Based on these insights, short- and long-term goals are defined, and a clear structure of the roundtable is established, including regular meetings, transparent communication channels, minute-taking, and a clear agenda before each meeting.
At the end of this process, the goal is to establish a functioning roundtable equipped with specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) objectives. In addition, a communication platform will be set up to facilitate the exchange of information among stakeholders. In the long term, this aims to create an improved care pathway for families affected by perinatal mental health problems in Tyrol, while ensuring that all involved actors can collaborate effectively.
First Round Table in Landeck
On June 16, 2025, Landeck hosted the first interdisciplinary roundtable on perinatal mental health, held under the title “Between Hope and Helplessness – a Case Conference.”
The event was jointly organized by Gesund ins Leben (Frühe Hilfen Tyrol) and our research project.

The round table is not intended as a one-time format, but rather as a continuously expanding network that brings together experiences, expertise, and commitment. The aim is to achieve tangible improvements for affected families in Tyrol with each meeting. The next round table is already being planned – information on the date and registration will follow in the next newsletter.
